For new patrons, the director or staff member may ask for the last three (3) months paid bill receipts with a current address displayed on it. (Driver’s licenses will not be accepted.) The patron must then fill out an application card, and a reference should be given of a business person in Clay Center, or if not known, a reliable person in Clay Center Public Library known to staff.
Using Clay Center Public Library’s On-Line Card Catalog
Visit the Clay Center Public Library and get a library card and number from the staff.
After you have received your card, go to the library’s webpage, http://claycenter.lib.nckls.org, click on card catalog on the right side of page.
You can search the card catalog from this page by typing in title or author. The page will be displayed showing if it is available or not. If there is a reserve list for that title, you will receive item in order of list.
LOG IN: This is in the upper right-hand corner. (You need to log in to your account to place a hold on items.)
USERNAME: YOUR 4 DIGIT LIBRARY ACCOUNT # 1_ _ _ (The staff can tell you your number if

To use the Sunflower eLibrary, you must first have a valid library account with the Clay Center Public Library. (To get an account call the library or stop by.)
- Click “Start Now” in the Sunflower eLIbrary section of our webiste.
- To sign in, select Clay Center Public Library from the drop-down list of libraries.
- Enter your library card number.
- Enter the last name of your account using a capital letter at start of name.
Come inside the library and talk to staff. We are happy to issue you a FREE State Library eCard. We will show you all the FREE resources where people from every age, can enjoy!
The State Library eCard provides access to digital library services available to all Kansas residents regardless of location. Included in the services offered are Universal Classes. Universal Class offers over 500 online courses in more than 30 areas of study. Since Universal Class offers everything from Microsoft Excel to parenting skills, you’ll be sure to find something of interest to learn. These are actual online courses with an instructor, assignments, and lecture materials. Lecture materials can be both text and video. At the end of the course, students with a passing grade will be issued a certificate. Video audit is available on many courses so you can view materials without taking the full class (no certificate for this option).
